Vitamin D is essential for maintaining strong bones, supporting immune function, and improving overall health. It helps the body absorb calcium, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Additionally, it plays a role in mood regulation and may help combat depression.

One of the best ways to get vitamin D is through sunlight. Spending 10–30 minutes in the sun a few times a week allows the skin to naturally produce this vital nutrient. However, factors such as sunscreen use, darker skin tones, and limited sun exposure can reduce vitamin D synthesis.
To ensure adequate intake, include vitamin D-rich foods in your diet. Fatty fish like salmon and mackerel, egg yolks, and fortified dairy or plant-based milk are great sources. Supplements can also help, especially for those in regions with little sunlight. Regular blood tests can determine if you have a deficiency, allowing for proper supplementation under medical guidance.
