Rescue workers in Myanmar saved a 63-year-old woman from the rubble in Naypyitaw on Tuesday, 91 hours after a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck, killing over 2,700 people. Experts warn that survival chances drop significantly after 72 hours.

The quake, which hit on Friday, caused massive destruction across central and northwest Myanmar, collapsing over 10,000 buildings and cutting off power and communication. The hardest-hit areas include Mandalay and Naypyitaw. Relief efforts remain slow due to limited heavy machinery and the ongoing civil war.
Foreign rescue teams from China, Russia, and Southeast Asia are assisting, while aid pledges pour in. However, concerns over disease outbreaks and inadequate shelter are rising, especially with monsoon season approaching. Myanmar’s opposition has called for unhindered aid delivery, warning against military interference. Despite the crisis, violence persists, complicating relief efforts in a nation already struggling with conflict and displacement.
